Champions League St Omer v Herne Bay Utd

SCRA St Omer 5 – 1 Herne Bay Utd

Herne Bay United travelled to St Omer, France last Saturday to contest the first leg of the Champions League cup. The boys arrived in good spirit and after the formal introduction announced over the rink public address system the players settling into the match with St Omer pressing hard from the start.

The home team continued to push HBU with Danny Barton saving countless shots on goal. On occasions HBU would break away to put shots on Fabien Savreux, St. Omer’s number one goalkeeper and current French national team keeper.

As the match progressed HBU started to loose the legs and SCRA St. Omer took advantage and sealed HBU’s fate. 5 – 1

St Omer will travel to the Pier Pavilion match on 21st October 2006 where Herne Bay United have their return match. The first match of the evening will be the under 11’s followed by the main match at 9pm.
