This weekend had three English teams playing in two European competitions. Herne Bay United took on 2007 CERS Cup winners CP Tenerife in the first round of the European Champions League, Bury RHC took on Baisca (Switzerland) and Middlesbrough RHC played RESG Walsum (Germany) in the preliminary round of the CERS Cup.

Last weekend twenty three teams in six groups took part in the 2008 Inter-regional Championships at the Bushfields Sports Centre in Peterborough. Over the three day bank holiday weekend tournament, regional teams from the North, South and East competed for this year’s NRHA Inter-Regional trophies. Congratulations to the following winners:- Under 11 Southern Counties, Under 13 Eastern Counties 1, Under 15 Eastern Counties 2, Ladies Eastern Counties 1, Under 17 Eastern Counties 2 and Under 20 Eastern Counties. A thank you goes out to our members who organised this years successful event, the referees and timekeepers and finally the players who travelled long distances to take part.

Bury and Herne Bay United the top two premier league teams battled for the first time this season at the Ross Peers Sports Centre in Soham. Bury started there match with a poor defence conseeding two goals early on. HBU maintained a constant pressure but Bury pulled back ending the first half 4-4.
The second half was end to end with Brendan Barker “on fire and currently looking like the best player in England ” said Darrel Pearce. This match could have gone either way so we are looking forward to the return match at the Pier in Herne Bay on Saturday 12th May.

Bury have now played Letchworth in their knockout cup qualifier at the Ross Peers Sports Centre in Soham. Bury were triumphant with a 5 – 3 victory over Letchworth last Wednesday. All this seasons senior cup qualifiers will have to be completed by 15th April.
